The best place to preview new tech for the upcoming year (2020) is at the CES (Consumer Electric Show), which will be held on January 7, 2020, to January 10, 2020.

Each year, the show does a great job of bringing trending technology to the forefront and allowing ‘techies’ and other interested parties to get a sneak peek at what is coming next in the world of laptops, phones, enterprise software, and a host of other gadgets like talking electronic dogs.

CES 2020
Before delving into the latest tech that is expected to make an appearance at the show, a brief description of CES is warranted. First off, CES is not a new event as it has been the host for upcoming technological innovations and trending consumer technology for the past 50 years.

Owned and operated by CTA (Consumer Technology Association), the yearly global platform introduces the latest and greatest tech to the market before the general public gets a chance to interact with it.

This is precisely why it is the ultimate stage for getting a peek at the best upcoming technological breakthroughs across various industries!

New Tech On Display
The 2020 technology that will be featured at the upcoming CES event will only be as good as the companies that developed it. If next year’s lineup is any indication, then attendees can expect hundreds of new and exciting tech products to be on display.

Some of the companies that will be exhibiting their latest cutting edge tech include the following:

  • Amazon
  • Facebook
  • Microsoft
  • Samsung
  • Canon

While there will be many more companies known for creating fresh, new, and innovative gadgets attending the show, one can already see from the above list that all the major ‘tech-giants’ will be there, the only exception being that of Apple. During the 2020 show, the following industries are expected to take center stage:

  • Transportation & Tourism
  • Digital Health
  • 5G Technology
  • AI Technology (Consumer-Based)
  • Data Analytics / Data Privacy

There will also be a wide array of new tech products on display at the CES event that is set to be released during the show and throughout the rest of 2020.

High-End GPU: The semiconductor company, AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.), is expected to unveil a new line of advanced, AI-infused supercomputers that should exceed its RadionVII model, which showcased the first-ever 7-nanometer graphics card.

Digital Media Player: The American technology company Nvidia, known for its high-tech gaming products, is expected to showcase its new Android-based digital media player, Nvidia Shield, at the upcoming event.

The new Nvidia Shield is said to have a host of new features, including AI upscaling, faster processing speed, and a higher picture & audio quality than its predecessors.

Smart Appliances: LG, the Korean conglomerate, is set to bring some new tech to the household appliance & gadget market in 2020. Some of its new high-tech household products it will be bringing to the fore during this upcoming year include the following:

  • Smart Washers
  • Smart Dryers
  • Robot Vacuums
  • Automated Air Purifiers

Household items are not usually the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of a tech trade show, but LG always pushes the bar when it comes to revolutionizing technology within various industries and markets.

LG will also be introducing its staple products during the CES event, including a brand new series of OLED TVs and at least one new Android mid-range phone.

Virtual Gaming: Japanese conglomerate, Sony, looks like it will keep it short and sweet this upcoming year, unveiling some minor updates to its line of TVs and 360-Degree Reality Audio format.

However, the main attraction techies can look forward to from this multinational conglomerate is their gaming peripherals, particularly its PlayStation VR 2 (PSVR 2), which many believe will work exclusively with the upcoming PS5 system.

Although no official word has been given by the company as to what new features the PSVR 2 will bring to the gaming industry, some inside experts believe that the following features are almost certain:

  • Wireless Headset (Flexible Gameplay)
  • Transparent Visuals (Transparency Mode)
  • 3D Gaming (Holographic Mode)

Thin TVs & Large-Capacity SSDs: South Korean tech company, Samsung, is no stranger to consumer technology, which is exactly why they continue to provide new features and new products that ‘wow’ digital and technological enthusiasts year after year. In 2020, the company will most likely unveil its new line of ‘Smart’ QLED TVs at the CES show. The distinct feature of these new series of TVs will be their ‘Zero-Bezel’ design.

Samsung TVs are already known for their thin bezels (curved holdings), yet it seems that the shrinking bezel design that has been so popular this last year amongst smartphones has encouraged the company to incorporate even thinner holdings to its TV sets as well as some of its other electronic devices.

There is also a rumor that Samsung may surprise everyone at the event with a brand new 32 Terabyte 2.5-inch solid-state drive (SSD). The SSD will be the largest single drive ever to hit the market once it is finally released. Some of its main features will include:

  • 512 V-NAND Chips
  • 2.5-Inch Form Factor
  • 100 TB Storage
