Politics & American News Stations

In today’s politically-fueled economy, there are countless industries that are both directly and indirectly impacted by the nation’s politics. Those who follow current events closely will not find it surprising to learn that the different news stations vary on their overall political beliefs and approaches. According to an article from Business Insider, 44% of Americans believe that news stations present bias or inaccurate information, making it more important to understand how they differ from each other.

From CNN to Fox News, news stations are increasingly becoming known and recognized based on their political beliefs. As a result, it is important to understand the different news stations, what their political affiliations are, and how to learn from their differences.

Conservative News Stations
A conservative mindset refers to an approach that focuses on keeping traditions alive in today’s society. In general, rapid changes are less common with a conservative mindset, since the goal is to maintain procedures that have been set into place. News stations that are typically considered right-leaning, and conservative, will typically support a few notable actions, including less government involvement, focus on preserving family values, and showing personal responsibility.

One of the most well-known, conservative news stations is Fox News. While Fox continues to be a popular station for conservative, right-leaning individuals, a study from All Sides found that it remains less bias than other, more focused news stations.

Liberal News Stations
Liberal news stations, on the other hand, take a different approach based on their left-leaning political standing. In general, a liberal mindset is defined as being open to new, unknown behaviors and actions, even if it means that a change has to be made. Those who consider themselves to be liberals will typically support increased government involvement and services, which can include food stamps, social security, and access to things like healthcare and affordable education. Unlike a conservative approach, a liberal approach typically focuses on finding ways to help the American people that may not have the resources they need to thrive.

One of the most well-known liberalists, left-leaning news stations is CNN and has continued to gain a stronger reputation as one in recent years. Like Fox News, CNN creates stories based on what is going on in today’s political environment with their perspective included. Overall, while it is important to understand the current events that are going on within your political party, it can also be beneficial to read other news sources to give yourself the most comprehensive, unbiased overview of today’s world.
